FAIRBANKS — The North Pole Patriots won three of the four matches that were contested en route to a 6-1 high school tennis win over the Eielson Ravens on Monday night at North Pole.

Amanda Williams scored the lone point for host Eielson, as she won the girls No. 2 singles match 6-3, 3-6, 7-4 tiebreaker over Laurie Geyer.

North Pole’s Phillip Martinez won the lone boys singles match against Thomas Baldwin, with a hard-fought 6-2, 6-5 victory. The Patriots also won the girls No. 1 singles match when Kayla Arthofer notched a 6-4, 6-4 win over Amber Harger.

North Pole also won the mixed doubles match, as Ryan Smith and Katie Callahan registered a 6-2, 6-1 win over Taylor Jacobs and Krystal Madison.

Eielson had to forfeit the other three matches to the Patriots.

Football poll

After beating the Palmer Moose 14-7 on Saturday to clinch the Railbelt Conference title, the North Pole Patriots remained the No. 1-ranked team in this week’s Alaska Sports Broadcasting Network high school football poll.

The Patriots will take a 5-0 Railbelt Conference record and a 7-0 overall mark into Friday night’s regular-season finale against the Lathrop Malemutes. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at Patriot Pride Field in North Pole.

Unbeaten South Anchorage remained in the No. 2 spot, followed by Service, Colony and Chugiak.

Eielson moved up to No. 2 in the small schools poll behind defending state champion Soldotna. Nikiski is ranked third, Kenai is fourth and Barrow is fifth.
