Unbeaten West Valley High School recorded three victories without surrendering a game in Tuesday afternoon’s 6-1 victory over the Hutchison Hawks in a rescheduled Mid Alaska Conference meet at the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts.

For West Valley, Logan Little and Jenna Powers combined for a 6-0, 6-0 win in mixed doubles against Hutchison’s Andrea Wharton and Brooke Meath. The Wolfpack’s Robbie Vehmeier won by the same score against Dylan Edwards in the boys No. 1 singles match and Joe Sample and Nick Raugust shut out Ben Leslie and Bret Johnson in both sets of their boys doubles match.

West Valley’s Sean Markle held off Skylar Evans 6-4, 6-3 in the No. 2 boys duel and girls No. 2 teammate Amanda Holyfield emerged with a 6-2, 6-1 decision over Lynette Thompson. The Wolfpack girls doubles of Lori Ellsworth and Erika Martin won by forfeit.

Kelsey Peterson registered the Hawks’ point by rallying for a 6-5 (7-1), 6-2 win over Caitlin Deutsch. It was the third straight dual-meet win for the Wolfpack and the Hawks’ first loss after two straight wins.

The teams were slated to play Monday but they were rained out.

Lathrop sweeps

The Lathrop Malemutes won all four matches that were played in sweeping the Eielson Ravens Tuesday night at The Alaska Club South.

All four Lathrop wins came in singles matches. The Malemutes won all three doubles matches by forfeit.

Also today, North Pole takes on Monroe Catholic at 6 p.m. at the Dan Ramras Community Tennis Courts.
