High School Tennis Information 2011

All high school students - Plan to come out for your high school tennis team! The schedule for 2012 will be similar to the 2011 season (see below). Updated information will be available in summer 2012. Tennis is an out-sourced high school sport in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. If you are home-schooled student interested in playing, please contact Gwen Ramras at 388-8334.

FTA has a No-Cut policy. All ability levels are welcome.

All you need for the first practice, Monday, August 1, is a completed Physical Exam form, a Parental Consent form(PDF) & tennis shoes. Shorts with pockets are advisable. Bring your racquet if you have one. Loaner racquets are available.

Local health care providers have physical exam forms in their offices. Physicals are parents' responsibility and are good for one year. There are no in-school physicals available. Coaches will have parental consent forms and registration forms to be completed at the first practice. The registration fee

URGENT – You must have a completed physical before you can participate at the first practice. No practices will be counted unless the physical and parental consent forms are completed. Ten practices are required to participate in matches.

Practice begins Monday, August 1 at the locations and times below:

Ben Eielson Eielson AFB courts (near Fitness Center)
5:00 - 6:30pm with Coach Frank Abac

Hutchison DRCTC, 5:30pm-7pm with Coach Carol Woodard

Lathrop DRCTC, 2:45pm-4pm with Coach Milo Griffin and Assistant Coach Gayle Hazen
JV Coach to be announced.

Monroe DRCTC, 4:30-6:30pm with Coaches Bobby Trujillo and Cathy Thomas

North Pole NPHS Courts, 2:45pm-4:45pm with Coach Peter Baksis

West Valley The Alaska Club outdoor courts, 3pm with Coach Debbie Miller. JV Coach to be announced.

The Tennis Registration fee for 2011 is $185 - Scholarships are available for financial need. Please bring fee with completed forms to coach by Aug 5. Scholarships are available on a financial need basis.
