Registration is Required through Three Websites:
*** IMPORTANT: Players must complete ALL OF the following registrations prior to their first practice. ***
Register players, sign all waivers, and pay the registration fee for the 2025 High School season. Team rosters for practices are provided to coaches based on registration with FTA through this website. Email [email protected] with any questions.
Big Teams Website (formerly PlanetHS): https://studentcentral.bigteams.com/
Register your player with their school to participate in all school activities. This has multiple waivers and is the location that a player’s required Sports Physical must be uploaded to before a player can participate in practices. Contact your School’s Activities Coordinator if you have any questions.
FTA utilizes Universal Tennis for keeping track of match scores and regional ranking for players. This is also useful for comparison to players in Anchorage and outside of Alaska. Register for a free account if your player is new to FTA. Returning players should use their existing account from previous seasons. Email [email protected] with any questions.
Other Useful Information
District webpage for all activities, including sports. Please note that this includes key information for Homeschool (Alternative Education) students, including a Google Form to register for an activity with the District. Homeschool students have an additional fee for doing each/every activity. This is NOT an FTA fee and must be coordinated directly with the District or your School’s Activities Coordinator. 
Alaska School Activities Association (ASAA) Alternative Education Requirements:
All players in High School Tennis must be eligible students to participate in an activity, as determined and verified by their school. The District follows the ASAA requirements for Alternative Education students. Any questions or issues related to eligibility must be addressed through the District or your School’s Activities Coordinator.
Sports Physicals:
Sports physicals are parents’ responsibility and must be uploaded through Big Teams before a player will be eligible to practice for High School Tennis. A sports physical is valid for 18 months and must be valid through the end of the sports season. Physicals are not available in any of the schools. Local health care providers have physical exam forms in their offices. Please contact your local health care provider if you have any questions about obtaining a physical.

Eligibility for Practices and Matches
ASAA rules require a player to have a minimum of ten practices to participate in matches. Limited exceptions may be provided for multisport athletes and must be evaluated through your School. Minimum grades and the grade check schedule for academic eligibility for local matches, travel matches, and the state tournament travel may vary by School. In addition, class period and daily tardiness and/or absences will impact your players eligibility to participate in practices and matches. Please direct all questions regarding academic eligibility rules to your School’s Activities Coordinator. In addition to academic eligibility from the school, FTA HS Coaches may have team policies that impact eligibility for matches and practices.

Tournament Registration

Registration Deadline: July 26, 11:59pm
Daily divisions.
2-3 hours divisions each day.
Multiple matches guaranteed in each division.
Cost: $20 per player per divisions
Food and prizes available in all divisions.

However, we will also run a couple of non UTR events:
Mix and Match Doubles: Saturday 10:00 - 12:00 - please register at fairbankstennis.org to participate in the event.
Up River Down River: Sunday 10:00 - 12:00 (no need to register if you have already registered for the regular URDR program for this summer)
No refunds unless tournament or division is cancelled.

FTA's 2025 Summer Programs Overview

Rain/Smoke Cancellation Policy:
  1. Cancellations will be announced on the FTA website. If possible, cancellations will be announced at least 30 minutes before the start of the class. However, in an effort to not cancel classes unnecessarily, we will always try to offer a class if there is a chance.
  2. Individual sessions canceled due to rain or smoke will be made up whenever possible (partial sessions will not be made-up). Groups may be combined for make-up sessions. Make ups will be scheduled after 1:00pm unless otherwise noted.
  3. Because we have to guarantee the coach's pay regardless of weather conditions, we are NOT offering refunds for cancelled classes except in extreme circumstances. We will do our best be offer make up sessions to players whenever possible.

2025 FREE Programs

25SG Sunday Up River Down River (FREE)

This is a FREE program for anyone 14 and older who wants to participate in casual doubles match play.
URDR will take place Sundays 10:00 - 12:00 on up to 5 courts.

Please note CHANGE in logistics!!!

In order to cut down on the effort required to organize this event, we have simplified the process and are running this program in more flexible way.

Online registration is REQUIRED before participating in URDR.

NO more WEEKLY surveys and confirmation.

Matches will start at 10:00am on a FIRST COME FIRST SERVE basis.

There will be four 27 minutes rounds played, plus 3 minutes to change courts.
The first round starts at 10:00
The second round starts at 10:30
The third round starts at 11:00
The fourth round starts at 11:30

At the end of each round, winning teams move up (towards court 1) and split up, losing teams move down (towards court 5) and split up.
Winning team on Court 1 stays on Court 1 and splits up.
Winning team on low court (court closest to Court 5), stay on the court and split up.
See rules below about players on the low court - if "extra players" are waiting to rotate in.

The first four players to arrive at a court go to Court 1, form teams and start playing at 10:00.
The second four players to arrive at the court go to Court 2, form teams and start playing at 10:00.
Continue this process until all 5 courts are filled.
If numbers are not divisible by 4, the last players to arrive are "extra" players.
If not all 5 courts are being used, extra players can decide if they want to hit on the open court.

Extra players can rotate into play at the end of a round.
Players on the "lowest court" (those who arrived last of the active players) will rotate off the court to allow the "extra" players to participate.
Court 1 is the high court, court 5 is the low court.
At the end of each round, substitutions will be made from the lowest court.

Arrive early, to secure a spot on the higher courts, giving yourself the best chance to play the full 2 hours!

This is a FREE program for anyone 14 and older to work on cardio and conditioning on the tennis court.
There are two divisions:

2023 Nortech Nanook Tennis Tournament Information

Please join us during the last weekend of 2023 for some fun tennis competitions.
This program is made possible by the generous donations by members of the tennis community as well as local businesses made for the Raising the Hoops project.

Divisions are organized into 2.5 to 3 hour time slots to accommodate busy holiday schedules.
I am hoping there is something for everyone (14 years or older).

Registration is FREE (except where otherwise noted, i.e. the verified UTR divisions). 
Please register EARLY. I will adjust the divisions and schedule based on player interest.
If certain divisions don’t have sufficient enrollments by 12/22, they may be canceled in favor of divisions that are more popular.

Donations to FTA are encouraged. Please add your donation when registering at fairbankstennis.com.
These donations will be used to cover balls and administrative costs of this event - and to support this and future FTA programming.

If more than the maximum number of players register for certain divisions, players will be selected by skill-level to create fun match ups for everyone. Please check the updated schedule and divisions in the days leading up the event to check your assigned divisions. Keep in in mind that schedule may change. If YOUR schedule/availability changes, please contact Sabine immediately.

This is a LOT of organize, so please keep that in mind when communicating with organizers.
